Free online IFC viewer

Open IFC2x3 and IFC4 models in your browser. This free tool is for quick inspection—not a white-label or branded production viewer. Need branding, property panels, IoT overlays, or a custom OpenBIM experience? See our custom IFC viewer service.

  • Supports IFC2x3 and IFC4 exports
  • No install — runs in a modern WebGL browser
  • Does not open native .rvt files

Limits & requirements

  • Formats: IFC2x3 and IFC4 only — export native Revit (.rvt) to IFC first
  • Browser: modern Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari with WebGL enabled
  • File size: device-dependent; large models may need a desktop GPU and patience
  • Not included: branding, SSO, property workflows, IoT overlays, or embed modules
  • Privacy: files stay in your browser session — we do not upload them to BimEx servers

How to View IFC Files Online

  1. Upload your IFC file — Click the upload button or drag and drop your IFC file into the viewer.
  2. View your model — Your IFC model will load instantly in the browser. Navigate using mouse controls.
  3. Inspect elements — Click on any element to view its properties, or use the isolation tools to focus on specific parts.

Free IFC viewer FAQ

Can I open a Revit (.rvt) file here?
No. Export to IFC2x3 or IFC4 first. For native Revit / Navisworks / DWG in the browser, see our APS viewer service.
Is this the same as a custom IFC engagement?
No. This free tool is for quick inspection. Custom work adds branding, workflows, IoT, embeds, and handoff.
Why is my model slow or blank?
Check WebGL, file size, and IFC export settings. Dispose the current model before loading another. Very large exports may need a stronger machine.
Do you store my IFC on your servers?
No. The free viewer loads the file in your browser session. Custom projects use hosting you agree during discovery.

Need more than a free viewer?

We design white-label OpenBIM viewers with property panels, discipline filters, and embeddable modules—separate from this free tool.
